Samsung Imaging has expanded its range of smart compact cameras with slew of new point-and-shoot cameras at CES 2013 showing that the company is still betting on compact cameras for its imaging needs. The original Samsung Smart Camera was launched in 2012, but has now evolved into Smart Camera 2.0.
The reason Samsung calls these smart cameras is because the standout feature of the system dubbed “Smart Camera 2.0″ has a new AutoShare function that enables photos to be shared automatically and immediately with a smartphone using a Smart Camera app for Android and iOS. Users can share and edit images on their smartphones and this app also works like a remote viewfinder and a mobile link via Wi-Fi that’s built-in to the products. A direct “hot key” has been added to all the new Smart Cameras to take advantage of these features.

The first models that come with Samsung’s Smart Camera 2.0 capabilities are WB250F/WB200F, WB800F, WB30F, DV150F and ST150F. The new cameras break down into several categories, like the WB series are long-zoom models equipped with more and bigger lenses; the DV series are dual-view cameras that come with front-facing screen efficient for taking self-portraits; and the ST series that offer more stylish cameras still with pretty decent specs, so there’s a Smart Camera for all types of photographers.
All the cameras are expected to hit the market during the first quarter of this year and are reportedly priced in the range of $500 to $120. It seems Samsung has gone smart camera crazy at CES 2013.
