Apple Awarded Technology & Engineering Emmy At CES [CES 2013]

Apple-Emmy
Apple was awarded a Technology & Engineering Emmy on Thursday evening during a ceremony at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Launched in 1948, the Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards honor “development and innovation in broadcast technology and recognize companies, organizations and individuals for breakthroughs in technology that have a significant effect on television engineering.”
Apple’s award is for its “Eco-system for Real Time Presentation of TV Content to Mobile Devices without the use of Specialized Television Hardware.” It’s not entirely clear which of Apple’s services this relates to, but it’s thought that it relates to one of the Cupertino company’s cloud-based infrastructures.
According to the organization, “awards are presented to an individual, company, or to a scientific or technical organization for developments and/or standardization involved in engineering technologies which either represent an extensive improvement on existing methods or are so innovative in nature that they materially have affected the transmission, recording, or reception of television.”
Other consumer technology companies set to receive an Emmy include Sony, Motorola, and Canon.
